VIDEO's BLOG: KEIICHI TSUCHIYA time attack on tsukuba circuit

When Keiichi Tsuchiya announced his retirement from professional racing at the end of the 2003 season. To honor his glorious career, Hot Version organized a Special Run in Tsukuba Event. For his more than 5000 fans that showed up, it was their last chance to see Tsuchiya race in person. The finale of the day was giving Keiichi a final chance to break the GT car Tsukuba time attack record. He had two tries earlier in the day with the morning runs scheduled to test and tune the car in preparation for the afternoon finale. Before the event, Piston Nishizawa, the event’s emcee, tried to persuade Tsuchiya to reserve his strength but he pushed his #8 NSX and broke the 53 second flat record set by Satoshi Motoyam in the Pennzoil JGTC Skyline GT-R! You can’t tell Keiichi Tsuchiya to reserve his strength. This guy goes full blast when he wants too. So naturally Tsuchiya made the afternoon session to break his own record. Right before the time attack some snow started to fall and the temperature dropped. Watch this part of the full video i found on you tube, and witness history…
